Stephen Colbert to Celebrate Returning Troops
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Late Night, Talk Shows, Cable, Video,
Stephen Colbert will give returning troops a true homecoming with two special episodes of The Colbert Report. The two-episode event will not be the first time the Comedy Central funnyman has honored Iraq war soldiers; he previously went to Baghdad for a special series of broadcasts issued from the combat zone.
Iraq war veterans and active service members will fill the audience on September 8 and 9. Other groups of soldiers will visit the set via satellite from Afghanistan, Iraq and the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D. C. In typical Colbert fashion, the episodes are aptly named: “Been There: Won That: The Returnification of the American-Do Troopscape.”
Vice President Joe Biden, Senator Jim Webb and General Ray Odiermo will be among the special guests lined up for the event. Odiermo is a “friend of the show;” he shaved Colbert’s head when the comedian previously hosted the series from Baghdad.

Anyone who remembers Steve Carell accepting Ricky Gervais’ award during the 2007 Emmys should be thrilled to see this reunion.

The heated debate - which can be viewed after jump - focused on their individual careers since leaving the Jon Stewart program…and on the “a**hole” who really held them back.

On last night’s broadcast of The Colbert Report, host Stephen Colbert publicly complained about something many were bothered by on Tuesday night: ABC’s V countdown clock shown during Lost.
Colbert, like producer Damon Lindelof, wanted to cry himself to sleep after seeing the logo planted on the popular TV show. Surprisingly, though, Stephen was upset for an entirely different reason.

VIDEO: Diane Sawyer Says Goodbye to GMA
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: ABC, News, Video,
After nearly 11 years of waking up at ungodly hours, Diane Sawyer said goodbye to the viewers of Good Morning America this morning.
Sawyer’s final day on the job came with a number of tributes - some funny, some more emotional - and a recap of her memorable stories. Meanwhile, Chris Cuomo, who is leaving the program to cohost 20/20, handed over his newsreader reins to Juju Chang and watched George Stephanopoulos introduce himself as the new coanchor.
“I’m going to take the advice of that immortal philosopher Dr. Seuss, who said, ‘Don’t cry because it happened, smile because it happened,’” Diane said. “And this morning I am beaming at all of you. My heart is smiling and the privilege of sharing my mornings with all of you has been more than I can say.”
You can watch the late night comedians say goodbye to the “queen of morning television” after the jump.

Space Module: Colbert - Sunita Williams | ||||
|
Okay - so it didn’t go exactly like he had hoped. But Stephen Colbert’s efforts weren’t entirely in vain.
On last night’s episode of The Colbert Report, astronaut Sunita Williams crushed Stephen’s dreams when she announced the official name of NASA’s new space module. Instead of calling the node “Colbert,” the administration instead opted for “Tranquility.”
But to appease the disappointed host and all his voters, the administration made sure to name something after him. Now astronauts at the space station will “jump on” a “C.O.L.B.E.R.T.” every day. To find out exactly what that is, cue the video to the 3:41 mark.

NASA to Announce Module Name on Colbert Report
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Late Night, Cable,
After weeks of waiting, the time has finally come. On tonight’s episode of The Colbert Report, NASA will officially reveal what the new international space station module will be named.
This announcement is of particular interest to fans of the Comedy Central program because they played a role in the final decision. After comparing the adminstration’s previous four suggestions - Serenity, Legacy, Earthrise and Venture - to organic teas, host Stephen Colbert encouraged his viewers to submit write-in votes. When the naming contest ended, ‘Colbert’ had bested the 2nd place finisher by 40,000 votes.
Unfortunately, Stephen’s personal victory won’t guarantee him bragging rights in outer space. Although opinions were solicited, NASA reserved the right to pick the final name. So how does Colbert feel about the matter? “I certainly hope NASA does the right thing. Just kidding. I hope they name it after me,” he said in a statement.
Astronaut Sunita Williams will be the guest on this evening’s show.
